HD 168607是一颗位于人马座的蓝特超巨星，并且也是高光度蓝变星。该恒星相当容易被业余天文学家观察到，并且它和另一颗可能也是高光度蓝变星的蓝特超巨星HD 168625都位于M17星云西南方。
物理状态[编辑]
一般假设HD 168607的距离通常和M17星云相同（距离地球2200秒差距，或7200光年），并且和HD 168625有物理上的关系[2]如果这假设是正确的，它的光度将是太阳的24万倍[3]，表面有效温度9300K[3]。它的视星等变化幅度在0.25到0.3等之间，周期64日。但它和其他高光度蓝变星不同的是，至今尚未发现它有喷发现象[4]。
和它附近的HD 168625不同的是，在它周围并无星云存在[5]。
